Does anybody know how to remove the O/D switch from the shifter knob? I have a 99 gt with an auto tranny. Thanks for any help.

I'm guessing you mean how do you get it out in one piece from the shift knob. You have to remove the shifter bezel around it and unscrew the shift selection piece (the part that lists the gear positions). There's like 2 or 4 screws holding it down. You should be able to follow the O/D wire to a connector leading towards the back of the center console (when I mean back I mean towards the rear seats). Unplug the connector and then you need to take the shift knob off the stick. Wiggle the shift knob around for a bit and it'll eventually come off. You should be able to poke the O/D switch out once the shift knob has come off and feed the wires up the handle to remove it completely.

It's a pain in the ass, I had to do it when I got a, aftermarket handle and O/D relocation kit.

First off, thanks for the help. I had to remove the shifter to get the bezel out and fix the gear selector, and even after unplugging the O/D switch back under the console, I still managed to rip the wires off of the actual switch. So now I have to remove the switch to re-attach the wires.

Yeah I broke my O/D switch as well and I just ended up ordering another one for $30 from Ford.
