I see a bulb there, but for the life of me, I can't see an off/on switch or a plunger switch that puts it on automatically when the trunk opens.
It's a 'vert. Any ideas?

Mine does not come on till the trunk is all the way open, so I dont think it is a mercury switch, but rather a pin switch. I have no clue where it is though. Good luck and bump.

The tilt switch is part of the bulb holder. If you remove it from the trunk, you can tilt it and see.

So there is no on-off switch, just a "tilt" switch which is apparently inoperative in my car.
Zat it?

We're talking 'vert trunk (at least I am)---not hood--which, while we're at it, has an automatic plunger off/on switch.

Ditto. It's the same as the light under the hood. Check your bulb too. Peace
