How Many 15oz Cans of R134a?

I've converted the factory air in my '68 to take R134a (yes York compressor, everything else new). Anyone know how many 15oz cans will it take?

about 85% of the r12 charge by weight. but i found something new that works as good as r12 its call r12a by enviro-safe http://www.es-refrigerants.com/products/w/id/44/t/industrial-12a-refrigerant/details.asp
i put it in my 92 grand am that had factory r12 and i can blow 28 degrees out of the vents till the temp sensor in the expansion valve shuts it down.

keep in mind that r12a weighs about a 1/3 of r12

I'd try the R12 substitutes, but I already have 4 cans of 134A. I got results similar to yours in my '89GT with 134A also.

Hey bc, did you need to get special hoses or did you just get new stockers? Also, do you have underdash A/C or factory?

Not knowing the specifics of your compressor, the conversion kit using a Sanden compressor uses about 24 oz

Didn't need to change the hoses. Only thing I did was drain the mineral oil from York compressor and replace it with synthetic Ester oil.

My car uses a pound and a half. The pressures were too high at two pounds. So, a can and a half.
