I looked on autozones website, hey, its good for spec. info sometimes. It says 5 qts, but I thought I remembered reading that 02+ Gt's got a "bigger" oil pan and take 6 quarts?

If I remember right, my 04 took 5 2/3 or so quarts to fill it to the line on the dip stick. I've also read that will cause it to hit the crank.... but thats just what I've read, no clue if its true or not.

Now im pissed. My garage is too slippery to get the car onto ramps. The wheels just keeps spinning. So now I gotta take it to Valvoline and have them do it. Im way over due so I have no choice.

I wonder if I take my oil to them if they will do it or not?

My owners manual for my '98 GT calls for 6 qts. and the dipstick says full at 6 qts.
This is a strange issue I've seen on other forums.

Just use the money for a nice el cheapo floor jack and stands.
then you dont need the ramps.

Do not mix synthetic with conventional oil!

Mine takes 6 quarts straight up after the oil change and filter change. Try 5 and then read your dip stick... Add if you need to and then you'll know.

You can mix conventional and synthetic, wont hurt nuthin.
I would use the same brand although. I have called the tech lines at
Mobil one, Valvaline and Castrol about that very issue. You can mix
different weights as well.

From Mobil 1:

In general, oils should be compatible with each other. It is not likely that you would form gel by mixing the two oils. However, we would not recommend mixing oils as a general practice because oils are complex mixtures of additives and base oils that can be destabilized. Lastly, why reduce the outstanding performance of Mobil 1 by adding “regular oil”. Is it economics? You would be better to run all Mobil 1 and run it longer than mixing it with “regular oil”.

"My garage is too slippery to get the car onto ramps. The wheels just keeps spinning."

Buy some 2x8 or 2x10 planks and build a pair of these. I only have to drive up 2 "steps" to change the oil on the Mustang.
