I was wondering why the wheel wells are so large, as if the car was designed for 18 inch wheels. There is so much clearance that it makes the car look like a 4X4 with the 17's. Some people obviously lower their cars to take care of this, but maybe getting 18 inch wheels is a better alternative.
Most cars don't seem to have so much clearance. You look at a BMW and the wheels clear by maybe an inch or 2, and it looks tight. Can someone explain the thinking here?
