My area got hit extremely hard Monday (120MPH winds). I'm in Orlando now because I have no gas for the generator. Most of the gas stations are closed because of no electric. I saw a fist fight this morning at the local Mobil station. That was the final straw, I packed up the kids and headed North. Only problem is it took 6 hours to get here (normally 3 hours).

All the electric poles in my area snapped in half. Even a few cement poles crumbled like a toothpick. It will be weeks before we get electric and phone again. This sucks.

If you don't see S. Florida guys on here then you know why. Let me see if I can post pics from my phone camera.

Damn man that sucks. I can honestly say that after last year I know the feeling. We did not have quite a high winds with Frances and Ivan that hit us last year but the pigeon river whooped our ass. My house did not have any damage but lots of my friends did. I was out both times for about two days without sleep doing rescues. I know it can be common to you coastal folks but I live in the mountains of NC. Since I know your family is alright the next important question is how is the car and the new motor?

Ok here some pics.

This is my house in the pic. The mail box snapped and was down the street a few hundred yards.


My house again. My neighbor pointing to where my mailbox was found.


Across the street. Need a river boat to get to the other side.

My buddy across the street. His backyard is destroyed.


This is his backyard. His $30,000 screen enclosure folded on the very first gust.


His yard again and his neighbor. Same thing happened to her house.


The eye of the storm passed over. I pulled out the grill and BBQ'd for the block. 30 minutes after this pic was taken a 125MPH gust was recorded. It was sunny in the eye.


This is a cement pole that snapped like a toothpick.


The fight at the gas station.


6 million people without electric and phone. It's a war zone and people are getting desperate. Fights, looting and all that. I had to get out of Dodge. Not something I wanted my kids to encounter.

Jeez thats insane. Did your house flood? It looks like by the way the streets are built that the houses are higher than the street to try to prevent this.

Im assuming insurance covers these damages correct? I cant imagine 6 million people making insurance claims at once.

Good luck man, i hope things get better.

we got quite a bit of flooding as well, my company headquarters is located in boca and it has basically put us ot as well since they have no power, our main computer is ran from down there, good call on getting your kids out though, it was like that up here last year

I don't believe any of the houses flooded. We unclogged the drains and that water vanished in 30 minutes.

There was some kid checking his Civic for damage during the second portion of the storm. He was hit in the arm with a small peice of debris. It dropped him to one knee instantly.

My son and I played a game called "Name that peice of debris". Well it's hard to make out anything travelling at 120MPH. I don't think we got one.

Glad you're ok man, and yes the gas situation is pretty bad and getting worse. I've already advises my employer that once the vehicles reach half a tank I'm not coming to work. They will be moved only for emergency purposes. Everyday one or two more gas stations are opening up so it looks like it won't reach that point.
