why would i have bought the wrong shifter when it suits my every need? i have not had a single problem with it at all, shifts nicely for me, no missed gears, etc?
seems to me that you simply jump on the bandwagon and use hype from other people to post on the forums. where is your personal testimony?
you like your shifter? thats fine. how about growing up and stop flaming everything and everyone on the net? most of your posts are meant to put someone down. act your age and not like a 14 year old.
also, this is a hurst thread. if you dont have one, why would you post in the thread without any experience? seeing a few posts on the forums, and a picture of a fancy billet piece sitting next to the hurst does not qualify as personal experience. until you install one in your car :Zip2:
I should say too guys that I don't mean to piss anyone off or say that the Hurst is complete junk..... and you're right that it is not a direct comparison between it and shifters like the Pro. Understandably the price is higher on the other units.....but I'm simply saying that if you're looking for the best, all-out shifter available, you can do much better than the Hurst.
As far as Hurst being the choice of Ford, well two things come to mind: 1- name recognition. 2- price: as evidenced by many "standard" features being absent on these cars, Ford will cut corners on costs at every chance. Again not saying that its junk, but cheaper.
Oh lastly FNG2001- as far as all the shifters I've tried, you would faint if I told you about all the exhaust trials I've done LOL! They're documented heavily on another forum but I can't link to it.......... Anyway guys like I said, that's just my experience.
My dad had a Hurst in his 03 zo6 thatt I drove quite often and liked it in there, so I bought one for my car when it had 500 miles on it, now it has 8700 miles. It was alittle tight at first but is great now and was a big step up from the factory unit in my opinion.
For the money, the Hurst is great. It's certainly better than the stock rubbermasher even if it is taller. Yes, it has a metallic change but you're never in any doubt that you've selected the right gear. I've never had any problem with any of the shifts bar the usual obstructive reverse selection occasionally and slotting into second requires a positive wrist action.
I am being tempted by the MGW though, just to see whether the hype matches the crowing.
I've ran the stock, Pro 5.0 and currently have the Hurst. I'm happy with it. And trust me, i am trying to change as many stock parts as I can as fast as possible! LOL At some point you have to decide and go with it. At the end of the day, everyone is subjective to their opinions of which one to buy/use. It's more or less splitting hairs after a certain point. The shifter is a vital component of your over all set up, but it's not the panacea for putting down better performance vs. horrible performance. My guess is if you're running stock, you'll be happy with any aftermarket shifter.
The Hurst is an excellent shifter, no doubt, hands down. I had a Steeda shifter and removed it for the Hurst. Now I'm a big fan of Steeda and have been using their parts for over ten years, and the Steeda shifter is an outstanding upgrade, but I still prefer the Hurst.
Thanks for all the input, I put in the hurst last night and besides receiving the ball all chewed up, I like it, and did not spend to much for it! I have a pro 5.0 in my cobra and its a good shifter as well. I just think for the money and the looks you can't beat the hurst.
