Couldnt live without a v8, the Infiniti is great but not something I want to mod(didnt get rid of it, traded in the Vibe), so ......

we bought a new 04 Pontiac GTO. Not the greatest looking car, but definitely looks way better in person. Plain but a good sleeper. It is black on black, red guages, 6-speed. Interior is almost as nice as the G35. The car moves around decently, seems about as fast as my old Camaro SS. We bought it for a smoking 24.5k! My wife Lisa works for Gm so we got GMS employee pricing, plus about a total of 4k in rebates on top of that.

As far as modding goes, she should have never let me get into another 'modable' car. I already been researching LS1 modifications, and want to go with an intake, exhaust, and a hotcam(need some help here if anyone knows about this, kind of week on this subject) and put down from 385-400 rwhp down with a tune. Should be good enough.

Ill post some pics later once I get a chance if anyone is interested.

One of these days, when I'm running the stock pulley, we'll have to have a go... Noticed any wheel hop?

I think Ill need a couple of mods before I go at with a 03'-04' Cobra. But definetly, Im also am interested once I get an exhaust and intake at least.

Hopefully i can test it out more. I have not heard a lot of complaints about wheel hop on the GTO forums, Im sure its there, hopefully just not as bad as the Cobra.

As for the goat jokes, pretty good! The one about the fires was classic.

On another note, anyone know someone that is a guro of the LS1 modding?

I almost bought one exactly like that when I got my bimmer. I just didnt like the *holly crap the car is falling apart* wheel hop that seemed like the muffler was comming loose! Even the salesman said that was weird.
As far as mods you can get over 400rwhp pretty easy. A LG G5-X3 cam intake, and good exhaust will get you more than that. By the way the 05 model is coming with the 6.0L motor from the C6 with 400hp

Do you know where i can find out more about that cam? any websites or something? This is my planned mod list, intake, exhaust (even though the stock one is pretty good flowing), underdrive pully, ported TB, cam, and springs to help counter the wheel hop probally. That should get me to around where I need to be. At least I wouldnt get embaressed that bad by a few Cobras running around. I could give some semi stock ones a run for there money

I was aware of the changes for 05', but when it came down to it, I wouldnt have been able to buy the car for 24k(and I wouldnt have spent the 34k MSRP, would have bought another Cobra), I dont like the tacky hood they put on it to try and beef it up, and the LS1 market is huge and cheap.

Might think Im crazy but I was not impressed at all with the new Mustang. Hopefully it grows on me, not fond of the throw back look. I hope that it grows on me becuase i was planning on buying a 07 or 08 Cobra.

There are other hoods available that look a bit better, also a different front fascia. I actually dont mind the front end, its the rear end that needs work. Go figure, we are oppsosites.

For that cam, go here http://www.lgmotorsports.com/ its a lumpy cam, no way it would be a sleeper though!

As for other mods to the engine go to ls1howto.com or the forums LS1.com/fbody.com and there will be a pit of knowledge on those motors.

Lg makes good parts for the cars for sure.. Can be a bit pricey as well.. Swapping to a Fast intake will help bump things up, afr makes aftermarket heads that can get you over 400 to wheels on just those with no other mods. Exhaust is good too, but slp is VERY loud. Borla stingers and a ls1/6 sounds very nice, but not slp loudmouth loud. Be warned with going to aggressive on cam with minor mods, can make for hot start issues etc.. Go with a proven heads/cam package from someone like MTI, LPE, LG, etc.. Many many have gone the "cam" only route and while it may sound good, usually end up going through a couple to find the right one.

Well, in order to do that he would have to buy the C5R block $6k, the C5R heads $5k custom manifold for the C5R heads ~$2k, plus a rotating assembly ~$3k-$5k have it built, tunned, dressed up, and he's looking at $20k when he can just get the LS7 out of the 06 Z06 for less than $10k....not to mention that LS1's them selves can be bored, stroked and poked to 450+cubes!
