Hey all, I have just been looking around on here and I was just wondering how hard and expensive it is to restore classic mustangs?

all depends on the shape of the vehicle your starting with. one thing i've found out is that the job is never done lol.

It's no harder or easier than you want it to be. If you're starting with a nice car, the job is a breeze and can be done one payday at a time. If you're starting with a parts car or an abandon project, better get out the checkbook and open up your schedule a bit, it's gonna be awhile...

If your mechanically challenged like me and have to pay someone to do most of the work, it's expensive.

how much it will cost depends on a few things;

1: how much work can you do yourself?

2: what level of restoration are you going for? a daily driver is going to cost less than a show quality resto.

3: what kind of deal can you get on parts and labor?

4: how soon do you need it done?

the more you can do yourself, and the more time you can take, the less money you will spend overall.

i dont really know that much about the mechanics of cars, i'm just debating between getting a new one or an old classic one.

if your doing it for the WOW factor, its no comparison. ask any classic owner. going down the street, you get looks from EVERYONE.

like said above, if its going to be a driver, it doesnt have to be perfect and i rather mine not to be 100% concours cause i would be afraid to drive it. i truely rushed on my restoration and you can see it. the paint isnt that good and i still have quite a bit of orginal parts. but if i want, i take the cover off and drive it down the road and ENJOY it!

I just want a daily driver and i want a classic that i'm not afraid to drive, i dont think there is a point in having a running classic that just sits in a garage and never gets driven, i think you should get one and drive it around and enjoy it. o ya and why did the thread name get changed?

You will have to work on it, no matter how much you pay for one done or how much work you do you will still have to do more.
