My gas tank seal is leaking and I did not pass Tech inspect.
Do you have to drop the tank to replace the seal or can the neck come off. I have an empty tank and the seal.

The only real way to do it is by dropping the tank. Make sure you use brass or aluminum tools to knock the retainer off once the tank is dropped. One spark can ruin your day.

You don't need anything brass or aluminum to replace the seal, just some pliers to pull it out. I think True 5.0 was thinking the retaining ring for the fuel pump, but you won't need to touch that. Although, if you have more mods in store, now would be the time to pop a new pump in, too, since you'll already have the tank lowered down.

Thanks for the help . I droped the tank and replaced the gasket. The old one was split half way around. I replaced the fuel pump with a 190 while it was out.

Yea it only took 45 min. But I did get a face full of dirt that fell when I went to remove the bolts from the underside of the neck. Dam glad I was wearing my glasses.
