I decided to get off my lazy ass and do something today. LOL. My car has been running bad sometimes. Like when I am going around a turn and I slow down to about 10 MPH, maybe 15, I come out of it in second and the car "misses". It does it in every gear if the RPM's are low enough and its pretty hard to start going because it starts off really bad. It got a little worse and it only does it below 2000 RPM. I didnt get any codes except for some crap about the smog pump on the RUN test. But when I had the key on i got two codes:

564: (Cars Only) Electro Drive Fan Circuit Fault.

556: Fuel Pump Relay Primary Circuit Failure.

So what do I need to change/fix?

my guess would be to take a relay from say the a/c or something not critical and put it in place of the fuel pump relay. take for a drive and see if the problem occures again.

My car is pretty much the same below 14-1500 rpm. It feels like it has no power... I was thinking of doing an MSD box for it...

It has the power, just sometimes it misses. Like fuel is cutting out. Someone told me both of the relays are in that huge plug by the coolant resevoir. And I was thinking about it. This all started the day I changed my HB. And to get the HB puller on I had to take the fan and coolant resevoir off and I had to unplug that big plug. Maybe there is trash or bad connections?

Are you looking at the CCRM? If so ... that's not it.

IIRC there is a FP fuse in the underhood fuses and the FP relay is contained in the CCRM.

Did you happen to turn the key on while you had the CCRM connector unbolted (the wiring separated from the CCRM)? If you did this, that can generate this code (which means that the fuel pump power source was interrupted at some point).

Good luck.

Yes, PIN #5 is the relay for the FP (among other things), IIRC.

These relays are not replaceable .... correct? Don't you have to replace the whole CCRM if one goes bad?

Looking back on the 2 codes that you have ... the CCRM seems to be a very probable culprit.

AFAIK, you're right on Justin - the CCRM is a non-servicable unit. But some guys have opened them up and fixed things in there.

When I lose a relay in the CCRM, I think I will add an external SPST relay and run the wiring that went to that given relay to the new one.

CCRM being the big plug right under the upper radiator hose? If that the CCRM then yes.

no I hooked everything up before starting it.

BTW what does CCRM, SPST, and IIRC stand for?

All we messed with besides this was the coolant resevoir and the fan. The fan was the only other electrical thing we messed with. D.Hearne on the forum helped me do it, and he has been working on Fords for God knows how long, so I trust he didnt do anthing wrong.

PHP:

Yes, the CCRM is the black box with all the wires going into it, mounted on the same bracket as the overflow.

PHP:

CCRM = Constant Control Relay Module.
SPST = Single Pole Single Throw
IIRC = If I remember Correctly.

Ok, well i checked the prongs and say there were three empty spots, but there was no wires in the back of the plug where the prongs were. I noticed that once I hooked it back up and ran it it didnt do it at first, and when it did start to do it it wasnt nearly as bad as before I took it off and put it back.

Actually, I agreed with you Grady all the way - I just didnt want us to sound like a broken record. When something like this occurs and it's related to a component (the CCRM) which was either removed/messed with, or right in that very vicinity, I go over that area 10 times before jumping through too many other hoops. It's easy for a wire to chafe, back out, etc....... I've had my share of weird ones like that.

Now that's not to say that this is at all the issue - TGGT has gone over stuff with Hearne, but it's where I would keep lookin myself.
