I just installed my new Pro 5.0 short shifter and i forgot to put the sealant on that the instructions say is needed. Should i take the whole damn thing off and get some sealant and reinstall it or should i be fine, i mean i tighted the bolts down pretty tight

If you want to do it right, it won't hurt. However, I put a UPR short throw shifter in my car, and I never used any gasket or seal. I works fine, no leaks, and I've had it on for about 7k miles so far. One of these days, I may get to to, but until it leaks i'm not worried.

Better to be safe than sorry. I'd hate for a $2,000 tranny to go out because of some $5 sealant.

It shouldn't take too long, especially since you've already done it once.

Seal it. It's not that hard to put a shifter in, just remove trim and shift knob, dust boot, four screws lol....

+1 Think of it this way, your transmission now is not sealed. Will this matter in the short run, probably not, in the long run, maybe.

I've got 43k miles on my car, at 50k I will replace the trans fluid through the shifter and use one of these gaskets.
