What is the proper way to clean this part? I was told i should clean it. Sound right? My idle went crazy and the car started bucking so i had to take it out of gear at times.

Thanks , Randy

I would only clean one if prepared to buy a new one anyhow. Sometimes cleaning does more harm than good.

The IAC performance stays the same or degrades.

There really is no way to successfully clean it. You can spray it and everything but everything will just gum up inside and you will probably just be buying a new one anyway.

You can take it completely apart and clean the plunger. I've done it before, but I cant say if it actually helps.

Is your car an automatic? If its a manual, you shouldn't be in gear at that low of RPM, anyway. Does it idle fine in neutral? I don't understand why your car is bucking. A dead IAC usually just whistles, and I can't see it going out at 33XXX miles like it says in your sig.

I too have never had luck cleaning them. The one time I tried, I ended up buying a new one.

Some aftermarket IAC's are supposed to be installed upside down. I wonder if you have one of those.............
