Idle Problems (Need Help)

When I start my car I have to give it gas to keep it from stalling. So I keep the RPMs at about 1,500 for 5 or so mins. Then the car runs fine. I was wandering if the battery (which is dead) would cause the cpu to lose it's memory?

yes, a COMPLETELY dead battery will allow the KAM's capacitors to discharge and the stored adaptive settings can be lost.

I would be lookin at IAC or idle setting issues if you have to hold the gas pedal down on cold start (pull codes first - jump on anything with ECT, ACT, etc).

good luck.

Don't get intimidated by the number of post in the link that I am going to paste. There is a ton of good info in there that might and will likely help you out.

If you are having a cold idle issue, it should be something in the idle compensation (IAC) or idle setting, absent codes or other issues (stuck EGR, etc).

Just because the IAC was cleaned does not mean it is working properly.

Just my two cents. Good luck.

Sorry if I came across bluntly (read rude), but I was just trying to reiterate that I really think (based upon what you have posted) that the IAC should be investigated further.

(I was roasting when I came in and checked threads - my post came across in a way that I did not intend).

hahaha.. I had this exact same problem with my 2.3. I think its the EGR valve (this oval looking thing by the intake manifold). Ther ewas a bolt that was loose in it, so I think it was letting air in or out. But I tightened it back up, and never had that problem again.
