I dont know if i should be concerned at all or if this qualifies as a surging idle, but when i first start my car in the morning it idles at 1000 for about 30 seconds and then does an up and down between 700-1000 for about another 2 mins, after that it falls in to place and idles just fine. Is this typical for our cars when we first start them in the morning.

If I throw it into gear while its doing this and I dont give it alittle gas it sometimes will stall out.....usually I just let it sit there and warm up for the 2mins that it takes for the idle to fall into place.

In addition I make sure all Accessories are off when I start my car...ie. A/C, Radio, Lights, etc.

See the sticky "Help me create the Surging Idle Checklist" at the top of the forum for help with your idle problems. The first most contains all the updates to the fixes. I continue to update it as more people post fixes or ask questions.

sounds familiar

My car used to do the same thing(used to, as in up to 2 weeks ago)it would also stall out on the first start, and sounded like it had an f-cam, after I drove it for a bit, it would mellow out, but throttle response was shudder and sputter.
Check the surging idle checklist and follow the steps. I removed the IAC,made sure the plunger moved freely, sprayed the crap out it with intake cleaner, sprayed out the throttle body, replaced the pcv valve and screen filter, and reset the idle(baseline was around 500 at its worst, I bumped it to 800, and I had to adjust my TPS, it was showing 1.5v(key on, engine off). It's at .99v now. Now no more surge, holds steady 800 rpm idle on first start with no stalling and i can floor it without the car jerking like its my first stick car.
