O/R pipes are only legal to use off-road right? As in the track? So if you get pulled over couldn't you just say your on your way to or from the track? Always been curious about this.. i mean how could they prove you wrong? You have to drive through the city to reach the "off-road"

If its just for the track then they will say it should be on a trailer no?

Its not a matter of them believing you or not, the point is that you're not off-road, so they gotcha.

If your debating getting O/R or not and this is your biggest worry then just get them. The only real worry you should have is emissions and how loud you want it to be.. I would never get cats again personally, y pay more for less power if you have the option..

I have the X pipe with Hiflow cats and honestly think I may have the loudest street legal exhaust there is If I did not have the cats I would not be to comfortable driving around Dunkin Doughnuts. yet when I am on the highway there is no drone.SLP's exhaust the competition. My opinion

i think the law is your not even able to change your cats til over 60,000 miles..........period..........unless of course you went over a really big speed bump & come right down on your cats & smashed they up badly.

Because if its on offroad car is most be offroad all the time, not just 95% of the time. If you're driving to a track, its on the road, and therefore illegal

You could always just weld a couple of cat shells on your pipe.. I think it would be pretty hard to tell then.

ahhhh....I love living in the country. I have no emisions rules to go by here. Could blow all the smoke you wanted and there would be nothing the cops could do about it.

My friend with an off-road x has been pulled over 3 times for it. Every time he plays stupid. He tells the cop that there was a problem with his stock cats, and the shop he took it too put a extra pipe they had on the car untill his new one came in. He gets away every time. The first thing they ask him is if he has mufflers, which he does

Exactly, I have buddies that are state troopers and I'll guarantee not a one of them would even know where to start looking for a converter, and even IF they did, my car sets 2 inches off the ground...do you think that a cop is going to get down flat on the groung in his newly-pressed uniform on a hot, dirty interstate, with traffic whizzing by at 70 mph, and pull out his telescoping collapsable pocket mirror and flashlight, fumbling around hot exhaust pipes trying to see under a low-ass car just because he "suspects" that you don't have cats? Not a freakin' chance!

If there is a cop in the country that would do that it would be worth the price of the fine for me to stand there and laugh at him.

Not even Barney Fife is that zealous, screw em', stick the off-roads on and when you have an inspection (if you are infortunate enough to live in a state that requires it), throw the stockers back on....it takes 30 min.!

I think it is offense up to $15000 in fine!!!! Although not single cop that have pulled me over ever looked under my car to see if my cats were in place. Probrem is they stink w/o cats. So my closest call was when State popo walked behind my car and asked me if mine is running rich, becasue he smells strong unburned gas

i got pulled over 2 times with my o/r H on.
First time, he opened my hood to look for any kind of modification, then let me go.
Second time, i got pulled over with a fixing ticket of loud muffer.
I dont think they even try to get down to look under ur car for cat cause' that is damn hard with my 1.5 inch low

As if he even knew what the hell he was looking for...
What engine modification is illegal that could be found from staring at it?
