How much is too much to run off of it? I have a water temp guage, an oil pressure guage and a monster tach hooked up now. I want to know if my 95 Taurus fan is too much of a load for the system. Anything I can buy from Autozone or somewhere to help the load?

Also, even though the fan temp control has a fuse from the battery to the fan, should I run a fuse on the ignition wire also and if so what size?

How many amps is your alternator? Usually when you start getting into electric fans they draw a lot of extra current that a typical 65-86 amp alternator might not be sufficient for. That might be something to look into for you. Might consider a 100 amp+ unit.

70 I think.

But would overloading that wire cause a short of any kind?

If you are powering the fan motor from the ignition wires, that's not the greatest. You'd want a HD relay, which you install near the fan and/or battery. You can use your existing wiring but you will use it for the control side of the relay. Then you'd add a couple of short thick wires under the hood (battery to relay [fused] and relay to fan).

Good luck.
