I don't know of a write-up, but there is probably one here if you search or on the Corral.
Why not try to do it yourself? That way you'll see first hand what goes into it and then you will be able to fix anything that "may" go wrong in the future. Chalk it up as a learning experience.

Pulling an engine really isnt that difficult. I did a few at my previous job, and its really just time consuming. Provided you have the correct tools and the patience, its really not too bad.

For a quick summary, things you will need to do:

Disconnect harnesses for all accessories (A/C, P/S, Alternator). I do remember having to pull either the P/S or A/C compressor/pump before, but I do not remember which. May be both. Also need to disconnect things such as battery cables, and connectors for fuel injectors and COP's, or disconnect the wires for a coil pack/wire setup.

Disconnect fuel lines from rails, coolant hoses.

Transmission bellhousing needs to be unbolted from the block, or the transmission can be removed completely. You can do this for clearance or you may have to do it, I'm not sure about the LT's. Remove the starter. Unbolt the engine mounts, and remove the midpipe.

That is pretty much everything if I remember right. It's really not too difficult, just sometimes things can be hard to get to. Worst engine I pulled was a 5.4 out of a navigator. The intake sits like 3/4 the way under the cowl, and it has to be removed for clearance to pull the engine from up top.

only non-basic tool would be the Fuel Line disconnect tool, everything else is chilton/haynes written. Might want to take alot of pics of the teardown AND use some ziplock baggies for the reusing parts

me personally would get my cousin to do it and me help but if you have no idea go to a shop you don't want to mess anything up
