Whenever I get my 5.0 it will be a weekend driver second vehicle behind my Tundra. What kind of insurance cost am I looking at? Never had a second vehicle so not sure what to expect or how they will insure it. Any help would be appreciated!

I am currently with progressive and the insurance on my old '89 Convertible was around $89.00 a month for 6 months of full coverage. It helps to be older and have a clean record.

use some no-name company and be a cheap ass and it will haunt you if you need to make a claim. They will nickel and dime you to death, have you waiting months etc.. Try it!

If you have any Mods to your car you might want to see if you can purchase a Rider.

I pay 160 per month for an 07 GT, 90 LX 5.0 and a POS 91 GMC Van. All 100,000/300,000 liability, 250 deductables... basically full boat, great insurance. My insurance dropped dramatically when I got married.

If you are over 25, with another vehicle to drive daily, and a garage to store the car when you are not driving it (I also interpret that to mean you don't leave it unguarded in a parking lot begging to be stolen) then American Hobbyist or one of the other specialty insurers would be the best route. But if you don't meet their criteria, then you are left to the regular insurance companies, and won't be able to get much coverage beyond the standard liability and blue book value for comp & collision.

I know State Farm does now offer a classic car type policy also, but their criteria is similar to the specialty companies. I've been with State Farm for 23 years. I got a letter from them offering the coverage on my Mustang since it is now almost 20 yrs old, but since mine is still a daily driver, I didn't pursue it.

Good luck on it!

I'm not quite 25, actually turn 23 on Saturday! I'm planning on keeping it in the garage when I'm not working on it and driving it on the weekends and nice sunny days to work. Probably end up going with State Farm they have treated me well in the past.
