nope completely different. i actually think someone makes an adapter or something of the sort. but the plastic manifolds can warp, or if you back fire through the intake.. they can shatter

No, the 5.4 manifold can't be used on your 4.6. The 5.4 has a taller deck height, hence the ports are further apart on the 5.4. I don't think there is much reason to use a 5.4 intake though, because the stock PI intake works perfectly for a street engine with a 6000rpm rev limiter.

I'm not sure if anyone makes an adapter to run the 5.4, but it would be VERY difficult because the 5.4 manifold is much wider. I'm sure there are adapters to run a 4.6 intake on a 5.4 though.

Last point... does it matter if the intake is made of plastic or not? The only reasonable cause for a backfire is incorrectly used nitrous setups.

you only choices for intake are as follows in order os power:

1. short runner cobra 96-98 intake
2. stock 96-98 cobra
3. stock 93-96 mark viii
4. stock 97-98 mark viii

my info has the last intake as practically useless. it looks cool, but hurts power with mis-matched ports and a last minute design.

im using it(97-98) for my turbo as a starting point, but i have 2 early models laying around.

there are no other choices.

5.4 sohc is at least 6 inches wider.
4.6 sohc is at least 4" wider.

they are all just plain not compatible.

thanks bill i appreciate it you wouldnt be able to cruise the salvage yards out your way and see if you can find one cause there is none on ebay (reasonably priced that is)

and as far as salvage yards......pfffffffffffffttt forget it aint nuttin around here

been to every salvage yard withing 100 miles of me and to no avail.....

now there was one that i did find at bill fox's place but man that guys prices are a little over the edge but he only sells nice stuff

i have the 93 to 96 intake and upon trying to drop the motor in i have found that there is a problem the back of the intake at the throttle body hits the firewall and wont let the motor in on the mounts...... so that just fricken blows!!!!

i am seriously contemplating building my own intake i am pretty good with making ****.....its probably gonna be something weird lookin
