All,

I am about to restore/redo my interior on my 86 convertible. I have found the pieces I need for the rear 1/4 trim and door panel backing, but I was wondering if anyone knows what type of glue to use on these. I am putting a lot of work into it and don't want to have to do it again.

I have read a few posts where people have redone their door panels, but I don't recall any of them saying what type of glue they used and how happy they were with it.

Thanks,

Keith

I have always liked 3M stuff. The 3M 8090 super adhesive works really well and I have used it before with great results. used it to redo my door panels, the edges where coming of the backing so when I did the map pocket delete I peeled them back and reglued them. they are holding up great. I also used it in my father-inlaws '68 cougar to fix some quater trim over 2yrs ago, still holding fine.

3M in the spray can. Awesome stuff. 3M adhesive tape is also amazing. Its whats holding up the moldings on my LX.

This is a timely question as I myself am getting set to restore the doors on my 91 vert. I have not pulled my doors apart yet but have already ordered the sound dampener and vapor barrier from 50resto along with other odds and ends needed like door actuators and strikers. Out of curiousity, does the dampener or vapor barrier need to be glued in? I never really thought about it when I placed the order but it would be good to know in advance.

If there is something that I have figured out over the past few days, it is that there are about 100 different types of 3M spray glue.

Do you use the 8090 as well?

Where did you buy your glue from? Did you go to a fabric/craft store? Wal-mart? etc?

I made a quick wal-mart run a couple days back and there were a few items there, but I don't recall the 8090.

Thanks,

Keith

Can't remember the product number. I will look when I get off work. I still have a few cans left.

Keith, I believe I still have some of the 3M adhesive spray I did my headliner with a couple years back. If you want it, it's yours.

Don't forget about the home improvement stores, Home Depot, Lowes, and OSH usually carry any type of 3M product I need for a project
