I've had this issue with the last few versions...it seems they've done away with giving you the option to create mp3 backups of purchased songs? The only option I can find is create ACC file, which is stupid since they're already in that format when you buy them. WTF? And I'm not talking about import/ripping into mp3 format, I know how to do that. I want mp3 copies of the songs I buy from the iTunes store. Will iTunes do this anymore or do I have to resort to using another program to convert what I buy?

Haven't "paid" for music in over a decade, but anything I've had in my iTunes file I usually just click on "consolidate files" and it makes a copy of it in my iTunes folder.

But what file format does it create them in?

I'm gonna assume MP3....the same as everything else? The files you buy from iTunes are in MP3 format, are they not?

Nope, Mpeg4, and the only option to convert to is ACC. Used to be MP3, I'm asking if anyone knows if this is a change they made or if I'm just missing the mp3 option somewhere.

What format do you have set for iTunes to import from CD? If it is set to ACC, change it to MP3 and see if that helps.

For the longest time I didn't use iTunes for anything but loading music on my iPod, but then I got Shopkick and started getting free iTunes gift cards, so I buy stuff there now. I've gotten a lot of free music that way.
