Well I recently pieced my setup back together after blowing a headgasket. Got her started, and the breather is blowing out a little bit of white smoke (more when more throttle given) and a little out the tailpipes. Going around the parking lot I got on it, and it dogged for a second at like 3k then starting going into boost. I could practically smell coolant, and she was spitting out quite a bit more white smoke then at idle but not as bad as when it blew the headgasket. Also while warming up, my downpipe is rolling white smoke off of it.

Is there any way that it's not the headgasket this time, since their are 2 brand new 1's installed? Maybe the intake gaskets. I could of sworn I installed everything correctly and according to the book so I dont get how my gaskets could be leaking.

Any help is appreciated, thank you. Oh yeah, didnt check oil/coolant yet so not sure on those results, but I bet water is getting into the oil somewhere.

How long have you run the car since the repair? Could just be residual coolant in the exhaust.

did you actually see you old head gasket to be blown? had a similar problem, turned out to be coolant leaking from passage where lower intake sits on the head. water in the oil, but no smokey exhaust

sounds like a blown gasket to me...

when i blew my first head gasket it was on the dyno and it started blowing white smoke through the breather hole, then coolant came out of the rad. cap then it filled the shop parking lot up with smoke.

Gaskets are fel pro 9333PT-1

Yes the old headgasket was blown. Not only do I know this because it was leaking right out the side of the head, but the HG had spots in it where there was no material left there.

Some people have problems with lower manifolds leaking. I used sealant on the gasket where it touch's the head, is that wrong?

Maybe your head or block is actually warped. DId you take the heads to the machine shop to be milled?

Time to quit guessing and borrow or buy a compression tester.

A blow down tester is great for spotting headgasket leaks into the coolant system. Follow this link to find how it works and how to build your own...http://bellsouthpwp.net/l/r/lrichke...ession_tester/Blow_down_comprssion_tester.htm

Update.

I changed the oil thinking maybe it was just all the coolant still in the oil. I let it warm up then I drove it and got on it a few times. There is only 1 breather and its on the passenger side, it was smoking white, but less then it was before. And white smoke is pretty much only coming out the passenger side exhaust. When it was at its worst it was much better then yesterday, but still it was smoking quite a bit, even at idle out of the passenger side tailpipe, but none really at all out of the drivers side.

Originally the bad headgasket was also on the passenger side. But it smoked equally as bad out of both tail pipes from the rearview mirror until I shut it off.

Is there any possibility this is a intake manifold gasket problem? Would I be able to tell if it was?

i had the same prob. it turns out it was 2 cracks in my heads. i found out by carrying the heads to a machine shop to get them pressure tested. i thought it was the gaskets and i changed then first just like you did.

i have cometic head gaskets with .060" thickness due to my pistons poking out and my deck is milled along with the heads. I didn't put a really good finish smoothness on my heads and when i filled the motor up with coolant, i had seepage all over the heads on both sides, dripping. After the breakin, they started to seal up more once they ran through a few heat cycles, i tried some bar's leaks block sealer, and that has worked ever since. No leaks now taht i can see, its not burning coolant in the exhaust and i didn't see any coolant on my oil dipstick. Hopefully my dilemma is solved until i get some new aluminum heads.

My headgaskets have been through a few heat cycles, and I also added bars leak (From a good experience with this stuff). I went on a test drive to the local store, and gave her some boost. I came back out from the store, and their was a puddle of antifreeze (I have a tube that vents off of the overflow tank, so there has to be a bunch of pressure to push it out). I go to start, and she wouldnt turn over. I believe some of the cylinders are full of antifreeze (same as when it first blew). I guess my heads are warped? I'm going to take it all apart again and get the heads checked out.

I was using fel pro 9333 pt1's maybe I should go to a new gasket?

My bar's leaks stuff worked for about one day then dripped for a few days very little, then just stopped all on its own, i don't know how the hell it did it.

If it drips again, i have a can of K&W metallic block sealer, which is the best you can get. But i dont wanna keep using this type of stuff in my block if i dont have to.
