can anyone tell me if the 3.8 k member from a 2001 mustang is the same as for a 4.6? Will a 4.6 drop into the car with out a problem?

yes. the 4.6L and the 3.8L share the same k-member. the motor mounts offer the difference on these cars. good luck with that swap. (@$4/gal)

thanks with the info, it's just a weekend/cruise night toy. Besides here in Canada gas is $1.35 a liter(about $6/gallon). I'll just cross the border into Detroit and get some of the "cheap" U.S. gas while my wife does her shopping.

The K-member is only about 5% of a V8 swap.

I have an article on the swap with a list of everything needed. I'll try to OCR it and post it so we can make it a sticky.

thanks for the info. Actually I bought the entire k member with the spindles,a arms, rotors, and the pbr dual piston aluminum calipers out of a 01 3.8 mustang from the junk yard for $100 (guess he didn't know it's the same as a GT)and couldn't pass it up. It's all pretty mint. I was doing a 4 to 5 lug swap for my 85 gt and this came up. Thanks to the info from you guys I can now put in anything from a 3.8 super charged to a 4.6 or 5.4 with carb and keep it old school with a twist with this k member instead of a over done 5.0 or 5.8 car.
