K&N Air Filter for Mass Air EFI Conversion

I'm looking to buy a K&N air cleaner to connect directly to my mass air meter. Does anyone know the outer housing diameter of a stock 93 mass air meter?

Here is the page from JEGs that lists the filters, I do not have a mass air meter handy but would like to stop at the JEGs store here in Columbus and purchase the filter before I go home next week... any help is appreciated

I just tried to search for it again, didn't find any sizes but did find a picture simliar to what I'm wanting to do...

A simple K&N filter directly off of the mass air meter, thanks

Why would you want to put warm engine bay air into your intake?

-- or is it a fender mounted kit you're looking for?

Put a K&N panel filter into your airbox.

The problem is I'm doing a fox style EFI conversion into a '65 mustang. The stock location for the battery is where the fox style air box is - I'm not ready to move the battery to the trunk just yet so I need a 'temporary' fix for the summer. I would like to find an air filter just to slip right over the mass air meter, and would like to get an outer diameter measurement of the stock meter...

I'm not sure what the measurements are for a stock 93 OEM meter but once you find out, I think that the following link might have what you neet to attach the filter. Hope this helps:

... it would be a lot easier if I had my MAF and could take a ruler to it; I have to do everything the hard way for some reason though...

So if the stock MAF is 55mm, I divide that by 25.4 to convert it to inches which equals ~2.165 inches. I don't know for sure, but I'm assuming the 55mm is measured as the ID of the meter, so the OD would be approximetly 1/2" larger??

Anyone have a stocker that they removed that could take a quick measurement of the OD where you hose would hook to?? or measure your stock hose ID?? That would really save me! thanks

Hey...stock MAF's for Foxbodies have a 3.5" OD for the side you want to stick a filter on. And for info, it's a 3" OD for the outlet of the MAF. This also applies to the 93 Cobra housings (which are 70mm units). Any 3.5" K&N cone should work. Summit has a ton of em.

The mm measurement that we all go by on here is actually the smallest ID of the MAF, which usually coincides with the position of the sampling tube. If you search my username you'll find a post about converting a 94/95 MAF to a 3.5" OD inlet.
