I would honestly ditch the Heat exchanger (if you get the 9psi kit). The inlet temps get out of control on the GT Kenne Bell. If you go that route get a good H/E with fans. You can have an 03 Cobra H/E installed with some fabbing and that should help with heat soak.

Under the Kenne Bell there is an intercooler that cools the inlet temps going into the motor. The heat exchanger is like a radiator and uses coolant that flows into the intercooler and it is mounted in the front bumper like a radiator. The air cools coolant and then it flows under the blower.

I keep hearing how great the KB blower set ups are, i assume this is the only "bad" part to the blower? How much modification is needed to get the 03 cobra H/E to work with the KB blower kit?

And thanks for the expanation, i didnt know it was called a Heat Exchanger

Try amazonracing.com, they have one that modifies the cobra set up(larger exchanger and fans) and would probably wouldn't cost much more. That's what I think I will do so I can run 11 pounds of boost with a custom tune.

Mine runs fine pretty much stock. Although I don't do any racing, so I don't really give mine the chance to heat up very much. I just have my fun rides here and there. I will probably start beefing up parts as soon as I get money. Next on my list are 31 spline axles and a new differential.

www.gordsfordperformance.com makes one with brackets on it that will bolt right up to a GT. I don't think it's listed on his site but I've spoken to him about it recently.

neoclassiccl are you saying get the 6lb non intercooled kit from KB and buy a cobra H/E? Then possibly swap to a smaller pulley? Possibly saving a few hundred bucks along the way.

I think he means just replace the h/e itself but still have the 9# intercooled kit.

I would order the 9lb kit but tell them to deduct the HE and order the gords unit.

Not sure on the warranty but I have talked to Tim at T&J's and even with the gords unit the KB GT kit gets hot.

What kind of numbers are you putting out. I see your pushing upwards of 17 psi now. Have you gotten any runs in yet? I'm surprised that noone else has really complained about extra heat from KB blowers. Only thing i heard in the past is how the intercooler works very well to reduce heat

The car hit 548 rwhp with only 13 deg timing (we are going with 17 or 18deg) but Tim had to lift at 6000rpm since the MAF pegged. He is going to tune the car to 620-640 rwhp or so but he said the car wants to do 650+

As far as the intercooler it's the one of the 03 cobra and Tim said the inlet temps were awful with their unit. If you go with the 9psi kit tell them to subtract the intercooler and get a gords unit.

WOWWWWW thats some serious power

So your saying get the non-intercooled kit and this other unit will replace the entire intercooler from KB? I really guess i need to understand how the intercooler works.

No get the intercooled kit without the H/E since you will need the pumps reservour and stuff.

Yeah this car is going to be scary
