KB IAT seams to retain heat

After a few dyno runs we noticed the IAT (metal) was much hotter than other components. An IR heat measuring device recorded around 116 degrees on the blower and 140+ degrees at the IAT. This was 10-15 minutes after our runs.

hmmm.. I think this would cause the temperature to read falsely higher.

Does anyone know of a plastic IAT?

hey its still cooler then the 160 degree thermostat that you have. I wouldn't worry about it. the intake manifod and blower are aluminum. they cool down faster then the steel IAT sensor.

KB Blowers seem to have lots of problems when they run high boost, the intake temp gets too hot, and another problem is that there is no current way of intercooling the kenne bell blowers.

WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!!! My KB was the 9psi intercooled kit. They have been intercooled for about a year now since the kit hit the market!!

IAT influences timing. AS it gets hotter timming gets pulled. I am guessing if the IAT retains heat, the temperature of the IAT itself may effect the actual reading the computer gets. IAT 140 but air actually something less.

My problem , temperature stays stable through 1st and second but sky rockets in 3rd and fourth. It takes awhile for the AIT reading to come down after a 4 gear run. I have already have a gords unit with 2 fans + a vortech water tank for more volume.

I just got heads ported and Comp cams. This should help keep some of the temerature down..

The thought is plastic wil not retain as much heat, therefore more acurate reading????
