Kenne Bell or 03-04 Cobra?

I like my 95 GT, and can see me keeping her for a while. I think the blown Cobra is bad-ass and could see myself in one in a couple of years. But if I could get the same effect from a K.B. blower, Id rather keep my payed-off Stang.
I really like the idea of a roots style blower as opposed to the high winding centrifugals (no offense).

To anyone with a K.B. is it a ggod but? And is it addictive enough to keep me from buying a Cobra?

COBRA COBRA COBRA COBRA.....I love my car but an 03-04 cobra is . Althought your car would be bada** with a kb.

I know MK50, that Cobra just just amazes me. It's like, you can actually go to a dealership and buy such awsomeness.

Well, the 03/04 cobras are sick, but you also need to think about cost, but most importantly insurrance. The 03/04 cobras are going to cost an arm and a leg to insure so make sure you factor that into the cost. If your 95 atm is nice, i would keep it and buy a Kenne-Bell. You'll have alot of money left over if you can fit an on 03-04 cobra into your budget to buy other things

It is worth remembering that the 03/04 Cobra is a good, cheap option for quick power ... as long as it does not break. If (when) it does, it will cost significantly more to fix than a pushrod engine.

If you do get seriously interested in a 03/04 Cobra, get all of your opinions from people who own or have owned one, and ignore anybody else .

Last time I checked they weren't just all that cheap heh.

I'm sure You have considered it but why don't you just rebuild your motor to make it a lil more enjoyable? If you have the money I would say go with the cobra but if you want to not be in the hole bigtime do some upgrades to yours. Also I dont know how old you are but I checked on insurance under my name (im 19) and full coverage is............................1200 a month on an 03 cobra. I have a clean record. Heh just something to strongly think about.

I am keeping my current stang but in a year or two I want to add a 03-04 cobra with a KB or Wipple to the corral. I am finding good used ones for 24000-25000. I figure in a year or two that price will even be a little lower.

03/04 cobra hands down. you get a built bottom end and about 365whp right off the showroom floor. all of that with a rock solid idle and reliability. aside from that, if you do get the itch to mod it, 600whp is easily obtainable. try making that kind of power on a production 302 block. i miss my cobra and regret trading it in more than anything.

I appreciate the feedback fellas and will consider it all. Im about to refinance the house in May and will have some play money come out of it after all debts are paid off.

Id like to see a KB SN95 in action if anyone has video. Have you guys seen the sick clips of the Cobras on XFIRE.COM? I think thats the site.

My insurance for my 03 cobra is only $126 a month

i pay 150 a month for mine and im 18.

its worth it imo. all around awesome car. they will break under repetitive abuse/too much power obviously like any car. there are plenty of guys out there who daily drive their cobra pulled/ported, ect making 500+ rwhp and take it to the track on the weekends.

if you want to make 600 rwhp, then expect a cobra to break eventually if you drive it hard enough. halfshafts, irs, clutch, shortblock, all things that could go at anytime. if you want to make high 400's and have a fun car to drive everyday, i wouldnt look past a cobra for reliability, especially if its just on the street.

i dont plan on mine ever breaking with my driving habits, especially with the reliability in certain points of it. its all in how you plan on driving it. you kind of hit a brick wall at a certain point with the cobra's in terms of cheap performance.

i think that wall is around 550 rwhp. ported pullied eaton with some bolt-ons will get you to that point. then you start needing fuel upgrades, halfshafts, clutch, shortblock reliability issues, mass air meter limitations and maxing out the eaton. then it goes into whipples/kb/nitrous, and on from there.

they get expensive just as every other car does with high power levels. people who have owned cobra's will give good insite, go look at svtperformance for some good info. the general input from ex-cobra owners is good, regret selling, ect. then there are guys who wear them out and beat on them everyday until something happens.

if you want to go over 500 rwhp basically and not worry/cant afford issues, i would built a dart block turbo 331 or similar. otherwise, go for a cobra for any other option. there is also a good chance of getting a car still warrantied with a good resale value over dropping cash into a 5.0 you wont get back.

you seem to just want power.

saying a dart block 331 wont have reliability issues is impossible to gaurantee. with a bad tune you can easily wreck even the most bulletproof combo. if you cant afford the issues, either buy the 03/04 cobra and dont do anything beyond the basic bolt ons, or go with a nice n/a 347 and a good tune. the higher the hp, the higher the risk of problems especially when you are dealing with a power adder.

I have a 95 with a Kenne Bell 1500 , pretty much all stock, just 3.55's, long tubes, catback, and injectors, it made 352 rear wheel with 405 foot lbs of torque at the wheels also. I got the blower for $800 off ebay and it is by far the best mod ever! I keep up with stock 03 cobra's!!!
