Kenne Bell Problems (Smog)

read that link I posted carefully. you must be between 45 and 60 mph, 40 is too slow

I read it, but I thought the gears made a difference because the RPM's were higher. In any case, I did the drive again today at 62 MPH continuously and the EVAP cleared. Both the scanner and the Predator say there are no trouble codes.

Well, I passed smog this morning. In CA, you have to go on the rollers at 15 and 25 MPH. My measured HC was 2/1, the CO was .01/.00, and NO was 8/5 at 15 and 25 MPH respectively. Needless to say, the car does not polute.

In contrast, the Powertrain Dynamics tune was 8/5, .01/.01, 322/70 at 15/25 MPH. Over 2000 miles of driving did not fix the P1000 trouble code. He finally told me the P1000 code would never go away, and if I didn't do anything stupid I would not get pulled over. This is after having taken $400 to tune my car.

It cost me $1000 in tuning to get the Kenne Bell blower to pass smog. I went through three KB chips in the first month of operation (because the car ran like ****), a Diablosport dynotune (which fixed KB's tuning, but did not allow the car to run as smooth as Powertrain's tune), a Powertrain Dynamics dynotune (which induced a permanent P1000 code), and finally with a fourth KB chip.

I'm glad the car passed. I will never, ever again install an aftermarket blower, ever.

Nice emission numbers. I just did mine and it was clean as hell too. KB is notorious for having garbage tunes. You should have just taken it to your local shop and had them do a custom tune on it. I went to Speedfreaks in tracy and had no problems what so ever. I also had 100 more hp and 60 more tq with nothig but the blower (no exhaust or anything) so I bet a custom tune would really wake it up.

never had any problem with smog on mine
pass 100%

I had two custom tunes from two separate "reputable" tuners and they did nothing but f-up my smog.
