Well, I just bought a 95' Cobra with 50,000 miles over the weekend. It's a blast to drive but definetly needs lots of modding Anyways, I have a couple small isuses, the largest one being that I cannot unlock the doors with the key. Neither the passenger side door or the drivers side doors unlock from the outside (the cylinder does turn).
I went ahead and pulled the door panel off to take a look and found a ~8" rod laying on the inside of the door (in two peices). I can see where the rod was suppose to be attached to the key cylinder but not to the door lock. I haven't pulled the passenger side door panel off yet
Does anybody know how these parts go together/where to get the part? I figure I'll probably have to go to a junkyard and cannibalize another stang' to figure this out......
Sounds like your Cobra was a repo'd car. That bar physically connects the door lock to the locking mechanism, and unlocks the door. Unfortunately, it's either a dealer item or a junkyard one. I haven't heard of an aftermarket replacement.
The bar connects to a plastic clip on the key cylinder and reaches down to the door lock. There's a spot on it for the bar to hook into. Don't have any photos, unfortunately.
I see the plastic part that the metal bar attaches to on the lock cylinder. So from what it sounds like I just need to get the actual bar to fix it.....
