Do I need to replace the clutch cable and quadrant when upgrading to a King Cobra clutch on a 85 GT?

Not a bad idea, not not necessary. I have the OEM cable and clutch in my car with the KC cutch kit

as stated but if you do replace be sure to get a FORD cable, the aftermarket ones are terrible and can/will break at any time.

The quadrant is the weakest link if the OEM cable/quadrant system. They have a tendancy to crack where the pin goes into the support with heavy(er) clutch plates.

I switched to an aftermarket cable when I put my FIORE Quadrant and Adjuster on. The aftermarket cable left me stranded and needed a tow back to my house. Put the stock OEM cable on and it's like 17 years old. Keep the OEM cable and switch to a firewall adjuster and quadrant.

Thanks everyone, appreciate the helpful hints. I probably will replace it with a Ford motorsport model.
