Leaking fluid question

Just noticed today when I came home in the mustang that under the engine area there where a few small drops of fluid. Just asking what kind of fluid it is to narrow down the problem.

This is the first time I have seen this leak before.

Here is a picture

Looks like brake or power steering fluid coming from the hydroboost area.

Looks like power steering fluid, check the pressure and return line hoses and around the pump.

The car was parked in a different location so that was not where they fell in relation to the car.

I will check and see what I can find.

Either trans fluid or power steering.

It was actually engine coolant comming from the lower driver side inlet to the radiator. I am going to start by replacing the hoses and see if that does the trick. I am pretty sure it will.

That sure looks like Dexcool. The 2004's (and probably earlier years too,) call for motorcraft premium gold coolant.. however, if I recall, DC isn't compatible with non dex-cool systems (read: systems which didn't originally come with dex-cool.)

Maybe I'm wrong.

That may well be the case, I am going to flush it all out when I change the hoses. The coolant is left from the previous owner.

What damage could occur from possible wrong coolant?

Dexcool is the Devil! I used to work at a Chevy dealership and a lot of their vehicles use that crap. It's supposed to work for like 1 million billion miles before it needs to be changed but it's TERRIBLE. We would have Blazers or whatever come in and that Dexcool **** had turned into what looked like, pancake syrup. It would then turn into these hard crystals ... it basically is just bad stuff!

If it IS dexcool then you are going to have to flush your system a number of times, especially if the coolant has been in there a while. If it is not that old, then you may only have to flush it a couple times. Just buy any GREEN coolant and you're good.

My Dad has an S10 ZR2 and it's supposed to use dexcool but I flushed that crap out a couple weeks ago. It took 5 times to get it all out.
