Leaking Fuel Filter

i noticed it on sunday night, and the only place that was open was walmart, so the guy went under and looked at it and said it was leaking becasue it was clogged...i just replaced it 2 months ago, what the hell? is that the problem. should i just get a new one, or is there another problem.

Are you sure both fuel lines completely "locked" into place?

i got under the car and looked and it looks like they are, i think im gonna replace it cause its only like 10 bucks.

Can you see where the leak is coming from? I would also pull on those fuel lines to be sure they are actually locked into place. (without the secondary clamps on) I can't remember if there are "O" rings on the fuel connectors or not. You might want to look at that too. A couple months is a very short time for a fuel filter to leak. And if it does, it doesn't sound like it's very good quality. I pay about $15 for mine.

i went out a half an hour ago and tugged on the lines and they didnt move for anything. then i started it up, and it is leaking from both sides of the fuel filter. do you know about how much they would charge at a shop to change a fuel filter, i dont feel like messing with it.

Just buy a new filter (and the release tool if you don't have one) and do it yourself, it's a 10 minute job.....30 for me cause I seem to always mess something up. You may have a f'd up filter that is not fitting or seating correctly. It's a cheap part to try, if it still leaks, then take it somewhere.

If you aren't the sort of person that can deal with changing a fuel filter, take it to a shop and be sure to get a warranty on their work. Simple enough.

anyone know the number of the fuse for the fuel pump, last time i followed the instructions in the haynes maual to unplug the thing in the trunk, but there was still crazy amounts of fuel in the lines.

Yes, even after the haynes "fuel shut-off" method of draining the lines, you will still have quite a bit leak out. BUT, it is SOOOO much better than what happens if you disconnect it under pressure! Don't ask me how I know this!

i took out the inlet line and the O-ring was ****ed up so i put in a new one and it stopped leaking, but i drove it around forl ike a half na hour and it started to leak again but it didnt leak as bad.

When I changed mine, I just released the pressure through the schraeder valve on the fuel rail. There is still fuel that comes out when you take the filter off but it shouldn't be squirting or anything. Just wear some safety glasses and alot of rags handy. I changed mine in about 10 minutes a while back and cleaned the black gas tank cover while I was under there.
