I got the stang back running, but it cost me an arm and a leg. Here's what happened. I knew I blew the stock block when it happened. I saved up for a DSS short block all year and finally got the 1800 (I posted on the problems with DSS earlier). What I didn't know was that I had broken the crankshaft in two and destroyed almost all my internals. My shop guys says he has never seen something that bad. I bent the pushrods and all the valves in my heads, so I had to mill the surface and replace all the valves. The broken crank screwed up my timing cover, so I had to replace that. I needed new motor mounts, cam shaft and lots of other stuff. I ended up spending about $3800 on the deal. I could have bought a long block with better heads for that.

So the point is, never assume you know what is wrong. If I had made my shop guys take apart the engine to check on things, I would have seen the damage. As it was, my shop guy didn't want to have pieces of my engine all over his shop while I waited for the replacement short block

live and learn
Now I have a brand new engine with GT40 heads, Cobra intake, and new steeda 19 cam for about $4500 with labor.

What a deal!!!
