Congrats on your purchace, we use Motul on our 05' racecar, was using redline temp's 190/200 after switching to Motul temp dropped to avg of 140 as well as you don't have to change the oil each race weekend but everyother weekend. They will also analysis your oil also. However any Royal Purple/Mobil one/Redline/Motul will work well in you Mustang.

Cool, I was planning on using Mobil 1. Is there any advantage between the FL1A FL820S filters?

Oil

A. The 4.6L doesn't use the FL1A, it uses theFL820S filter

B. Mobil 1 IS a full Synthetic oil

I believe the FL1A is just a little bit longer than the FL820S.

OIL

FL1A is used on a lot of Ford engines, including the 5.0- but not the 4.6.

OIL

Saleen4971:
I would think 3K miles should be fine before going to Mobil 1. Than't about when I went to it, no problems. How do you like the Edelbrock IAS shocks? I had them in a 2000 GT 'vert and loved them.

I've got 1100 miles on my 06, changed the oil at 600 miles using ford's semi-synthetic 5w20 (or whatever the suggested weight is in the manual) and an AMSOIL filter. I will be switching to full synthetic at 3k.

BTW, my first oil change took 7 quarts even though the manual only says 6. Did ford skimp on oil or something from the factory/
