Line Locks

Ive been looking into getting line locks for my 05 mustang GT. I did a bit of a search on here with only a little bit of help. I was wondering what company makes a good set for this and which company to stay away from?

I generally stay away from all Granatelli products. I think most people go with the PMP line lock kit. You purchase the prebent tubes and such from PMP, then the solenoids from Jegs.

PM Emay or maybe he will respond here...he just did his car up getting it ready for World of Wheels and I know he did a custom line lock on Eleanor.

I have good luck with the motoblue kit. Its really easy to put in with all of the lines pre-bent. I have used mine at the track for over a year, no problems at all.

The only thing is the switch that is supplied is junk, I just went to radio shack and got a much better one.

They're made by Granatelli

Seriously, though. Granatelli's known for sub-par products and bad customer service. I purchased a few of his products before I knew, and while I haven't had any problems, too many people have. Especially on something like this. I only bought the strut tower brace and panhard bar. I would never ever trust them for anything mechanical.

Thats kinda what I thought I havn't ordered anything from them so I didnt know. I think im going to go ahead with the Motoblue kit, thanks for everything!!!

motoblue??? from RPMoutlet?????

please dont do it!!!! RPM outlet has shafted many people. they get the wrong oarts or are missing parts from their order and RPM has a hard time making it right. more hassle than it is worth, in my opinion. just look around for rpm outlet threads here and you will see!

Yup. I put them right up there with Granatelli. It's also a single solenoid system. For ABS systems, a dual solenoid system is preferable.

well, i got my motoblue kit from rpmoutlet, i had no issues at all with getting my kit in a timely manner nor was i missing pieces, the install went fine and ive used them multiple times and no problems w/ my burnout, only thing i did was change out the switch.

You may have had a good experience with RPM Outlet. I've heard others have, too. But there has been way too many bad experiences to make them a reputable company, nor would I suggest someone do business with them.

As heavy stated I just recently went ahead with the PMP kit. They supply braided patch lines to use a dual solenoid set up. going back to my more serious drag race days I don't think I ever had as much line pressure on my line locks as I do with this dual layout.

Be aware that you can severely damage your ABS by not running dual solenoids on our ABS equipped S-197's.

PMP's worked best for me as the solenoids mount behind the suspension on the frame rail in the fenderwell. So no solenoid up in the engine bay and no lines running to the main brake distributor on the driver side..

I checked out about rpmoutlet.com and decided no go....checked out the PMP kit and the solenoids from Jegs, it looks super clean, I like to braided lines and its fairly cheap so thats what I will do, thanks for the warning Bigcat. Do you have any tips on the install Emay? It all seems faily straight forward but maybe you ran into something?

What is your source for this information? I have been running the single solenoid line lock at the track for over a year, no problems at all. And I go to the track often, usually every Thursday and once a month on weekends.

Also, yes---that is an advantage with the PMP kit as far as the solenoid being outside the engine bay. As far as the line, however, the moto blue kit just replaces a line that was already there---so no difference there---just a solenoid in the engine bay.

The kits are really easy to install, I don't think it took me much more then an hour.

I used a switch that is similar to the ones pictured below, but difference being the switch has a red light when on. I put mine on the center console by the shifter.

Had to front the cost on a ABS controller after doing a local install here. So my first source is my own personal experience to the tune of 750.00 bucks at the time (July 2006).

My investigation after the fact, netted numerous occurrences, with all sorts of versions of single solenoid set up. So I fought the manufacturer and eventually got them to reimburse me for my 750 bone outpay.

I'll PM you a few posts of the data so as to not infringe on Stangnet's other website reference rules. It's commonly known, I don't post stuff unless I whole heartedly know what I'm talking about. I think Heavy can vouch for that.

There were zero hangups, al your work is done from inside the fender well with the exception of your hot lead for engaging the solenoids. It is as you said very straight forward.
