Locked the keys in my car...Suggestions??

Locked the keys in my car(cut keys don't work)...Suggestions??

Thread title sounds like duhhhh....but there is a story!

I was putting on my billet door locks on Friday and the dumb ass that I am locked the keys in the car!! I don't have another set so I call down Ford dealer and they cut me another key. The key doesn't work, but he says his key gun wasn't working properly so he calls down the other Ford dealer and I go and pick this key up on Saturday. This key also does not work and the dealer is closed by the time I get home, 1/2 day on Saturday. So after school today I make my way back down to the dealer and make sure the vin number was correct that I originally gave the guy. They recheck and put the key back in the machine to make sure it was cut correctly. Everything is good, but when I get back home, it still doesn't work!!! I try both key slots and put the key in the slot both ways!! Could it be that the locks were changed?? How do I find out, could someone check this for me? If not, would I be able to get a locksmith to open the door somehow? Can't they use those airbag things to move the glass?

BTW, I bought the car used, I am the third owner, car has 20k miles.

What do you guys think?

Go to a drug store or walmart and buy one of those inflatable blood press testers. Get something to pull your window out enough to slide the baloon part of it in there, then start pumping it up slowly. It will open up a gap large enough that you can stick a wire hange in there and unlock it. I was pissed the last time I paid a lock smith to have him do that in about 10 seconds.

Did it ever occur to you to...oh I don't know..call the police to use a Slim Jim (not the beef stick) to unlock your car door?

Hey don't be an ass...that was the first thing I thought of, but the lip that goes over the top of the door, I think wud prevent a slim jim from being useful!

Just for the record, the cops will not even touch a car that has automatic locks with a Slim Jim. It is really hard to open a car with auto locks with one and the chances of you breaking the car locks are really high. So if the cops will not touch them most of the time, unless you find a dumb cop...where could you find one of those?...hehe j/k.

AAA does it all the time, it wont break your locks, you locks are manual with electric actuators, very easy to slim jim, I've slim jimmed mine I couple of times, when I locked the keys in the car. That plastic molding along the window pulls of with ease too.

Coat hanger is the easiest...

You could always call AAA like said above, if you don't have AAA find a friend that does and have him come over and call for you.

NMC and a locksmith. Took them 5 seconds to do it with a slim jim. Odd thing is, that he never asked me for registration or anything, just my name.

I guess it depends what cops you are dealing with, I had local cops unlock my mazda 2 times with auto locks. Not so much thinking it is a dumb cop, just one that is nice(small town of 8000 is probably why) But take the advice of the little ballon air thing, works well.

go join AAA and get a plastic key made. they copy the pattern of your key on this plastic card that you can keep in your wallet. it wont start the car, but it will allow you to open the door. its saved my ass a bunch of times.

That's a good idea... can you get them anywhere else besides AAA?

no idea about other places. i have AAA for the roadside and for insurance(hella expensive but worth every penny) and they cut them for free for me.

To bad you dont live in Indy, I would slim jim it in seconds for you. The airbag tools do work sweet. One of my friends let me use his for a while to try it out. Love it, gonna get one! Hope you get it figured out. P.S.-if a cop wont touch it, it is not that he cant do it, only that he doesnt want the liability.

A couple of years ago I went to a Ford day at one of my local tracks and locked my keys in the car, with it running After 15 min of trying with a slim jim one of guys helping me said that Ford only makes like 10-15 different tumblers, so I asked some dude if he would try his mustang key. Believe it or not he unlocked it like it was car, I wish I had that kind of luck at Vegas...Thats also kind of scary if you think about it
