Can someone explain what the benefit of the long rod kit and do you see any gain with the setup? It seems to me that it would destroke the motor and the only benefit would be a faster reving motor. Maybe? I dont know help.

longer rod 302 would benefit by reducing piston speed which allows it to turn more rpm's safer. slower piston speed generates less friction and reduces pumping losses due to better ring seal. it also allows the piston to remain at tdc and bdc longer allowing for more cylinder filling and more complete combustion. since the stroke is not changed it does not destroke it and you definetly see gains over a regular rod 302 provided you select components to optimize the setup.

yup, just changes your rod length from 5.090 to 5.4, and changes your pistons to compensate for the longer rod.
