Long tube headers...once again

You do not "need" a tuner with long tubes.

You will be fine, its just that you will run a little leaner than i deal, i would have it tuned though. if you are hooked up with bama or brensped already they will change it for you without cost. they already have the tunes downloaded. it really costs them nothing to send you a new tune.

my car wasn't lean when I dyno'd it with my longtubes. It was right at 13.1:1. This was with the old canned SCT tune without a tune for the longtubes. The "lean" condition people refer to is minimal on average, and is a little different with every car.

You do need to get some O2 extensions!!! If you do not want to hook up your rear O2's, then you need to either turn them off with a tune or MIL eliminators.

since the long tubes will allow the exhaust gas to flow at a much greater efficiency, it will allow a cleaner burn and a leaner condition, but the computer will not automatically correct for a slightly leaner condition. Longtubes wont lean-out enough to cause any prolems at all, but it is ideal to keep the A/F below 13. stock is like 11.8 i read somewhere which is a hair rich. 12.5 is a good N.A A/F ratio for these cars. If you are boosted or running nitrous, a slightly richer A/F is ideal for safetey and long term reliabilty in the 11.2-12.0 range depending on how aggresive the power additive is.


like someone else siad, if you go off road on the h/x pipe you will need to fix that.


You wont need to change tuners.

with the midas installation? i dont see why not. make sure there is someone there that has done header installs before. im sure there will be. its not that hard really. Any bolt-o part isnt that hard, it just takes time and the right tools.
