How come I NEVER find anything good in any of the salvage yards around here...There are more cars than people and all I find is late 80's POS.

Because your in so cal, anything 00 and above get's sent to auto salvagers, however they wont "front line" any of them, they normally get stripped and sold as individual pieces. There worth more that way.
Check allford in placentia, I have found some great parts here, including 03-04 motor, trans, wiring harness, and comp. they wanted 2k for it all. I passed on the deal due to not having room for any of it.
