Hey, I know little about the 5.0 that I call (affectionatly) the 'Jellybean'...

So this seems like the best place to come talk as I am looking at one.

1994 GT convertible
5.0 automatic tranny...
70k miles
Teal (original paint with plenty of scars)
Black top and charcoal interior

The car is BONE STOCK, save 2 items...
It has a Roush faux rollbar and an aftermarket stereo head unit.
That is it. Nothing else has ever been touched.

The radiator has a small crack
The power windows move slow
The power driver seat seems stuck
There is a small dent in a bottom corner of the front bumper cover. Looks like it came too close to a parking stopper or curb.
It has 5 spoke stock rims
The roof leaks over the front glass when moving in rain. The seal between the roof and front header?

My questions:

*Is this car worth roughly 3500?
I am asking about the same for my 72 Maverick, and the owner wants to trade straight up.

*Is that front seal leak a huge issue, or just a simple fix?

*What gear should this car have out back?

*Does the car have an AOD, or AODE?

*Have any of you done a full-on color change on this model car?
I can't stand the old 1980s teal green and would love to entirely change the color since it could use paint anyway.

*Any other things to look out for? Comments? Advice? Mods that you recommend for a nice driver?

I have other more specific questions about some mods I thought of, but I am going to post them in a seperate thread to get more specialized attention.

Well how does it run? Have you driven it? Has it been maintained? You say small crack in radiator, what does that mean, does it leak, what? What is the interior like?

Posts some pics if you can. $3500 may be a bit steep. If I recall, Killer Canary on here paid 4 for a car in much nicer shape recently.

Purrs like a kitten. A bone stock kitten.

Have you driven it?

Oh yeah, several times. It is a family member that wants to trade. I have driven the car in past before the subject of a swap ever came up.

Has it been maintained?
Since it has been in the care of the current owner it has been maintained well. I don't know about previous.

You say small crack in radiator, what does that mean, does it leak, what?
It leaks under pressure, at operating temp. Not terrible, but it is there.

What is the interior like?

Decent for a 94 model. No cracks, rips/tears, etc... I wouldn't be surprised if it has a cig burn or two. It has the decorative roll bar and cleanly installed head unit. The windows aren't even tinted, nor has anyone ever so much as installed gauges.

No pics yet.
It looks better than the Maverick...
The Mav needs paint too, but at least the Stang is one color and only has scratches, as opposed to dings/scrapes like the Maverick.
The Mav does have quite a few desirable part though... CF hood, wide ratio Toploader with some trick parts, and a few others that I probably aren't familiar to non-Mav owners.

I am leaning towards it being worth closer to 3. Let some of the other guys chime in as to what they think.

What is the factory gear likely to be?
What would be a good gear to pep up street performance with the AOD?

I would pay that for it....it has 70K original you say....all else seems to be somewhat easy fixes....they Cobra KC bought had twice the mileage...........look around and you may find good deals but as you look around....cars with more miles and problems have higher asking prices........JMPO........I would get it.....it has a aode btw

that car may have 3:27's..being a vert....

seal should not be too bad for the top......

I think that's a fair if not good deal due to the vert status and low miles.........throw up some pics when you can..

almost forgot...I just sold a 95 Teal GT 5 speed with 86K, pure stock down to the air box, for 5K, interior was great, body had a few minor bruises......

after the 3:73's I have on the aode, I would say 4:10's, unless you will be s/c, or N2O in the future..

What is the 1st gear ratio on the AODE?

What is the O/D ratio on the same?

If you look at my screen name, you know I am partial to gears,
but I am just not looking for this car to be anything more than just
average 'stout'... I don't want a racer. I don't go to the track. I know
I am not going to outpower my last LS1/T56 Z28, nor am I going to
pull 80 mph at 1800 rpm like a T56.

I would be happy with intake, headers, better air filter, and gears.
Until the car ever needs an engine, I don't see me going any further on this one.

The biggest reason I am thinking seriously about the trade is exactly because my
Maverick is not daily driving material. The Stang is. Don't want to change that.

Since the Mav is only worth what YOU believe it's worth, it'll be easier to rationalize the deal in your mind since YOU have the power to lower the Mav's value.

I did a color change and it wasn't that bad, however, I had my motor out of the car a long time before I did the color change, so I used that opportunity to spray the engine bay the color I was planning to use. To save a bunch of cash, I prepped the jambs myself and had a buddy paint those, then had the car sprayed professionally.

What headers do you guys like?

The only long tubes I see on Summit are BBK 1 5/8" and matching x-pipe. No h-pipe for the 94-95.

Then Summit has a 'house brand' shorty 1 5/8" for 1 bill...

I like LTs myself, but if they tend to be a headache or low clearance on a 94, I'd settle for shortys.

Actually

Last year, several of us took some measurements where we all used
the same reference points

In many cases ... The lowest point of LT's were not as low as some
shorty header based exhaust systems

Will I have trouble putting 275s on all 4 corners of the 94?
I like the FR500 18x9s, and from my experience, 275s work best on that wide of a rim.
245s always look a bit stretched IMO, and I don't plan to run any wider on the rims.

Also, where can a Cobra front bumper cover be bought?
Anyone reputable company repop that part?
