Ok UPS just dropped off my PC 7424 and now im looking for suggestions on what/where to pick up some accesories. This is my first polisher so i need pretty much everything. It came with a white pad but im not sure id put some generic pad to the surface of my car.

Any suggestions would be great, and very appreciated.

justin, i assume you will chime in with your customary poorboys pitch so if you want to PM me id be willing to chat more.

thx

I'd get a bottle of Poorboy's SSR 2.5 to do the heavy lifting and SSR 1 to clean up any possible marring left behind. Pay a visit to exceldetail.com and get yourself some Propel pads and a flexible backing plate, I believe they have a starter bundle.

K.. Here we go! I totally agree with Mr.Hawver. You will love the PC. It is a great investment! Right now autogeek.com has a sell on all their buffer pads and accessories. I would pick up a couple white polishing pads and a couple orange pads. You shouldn't need a yellow pad unless you have real bad swirls/scratches. Gray finishing pad is optional. I prefer to put my sealants and waxes on by hand.
After you wash the car, I would claybar the whole thing getting all the contaminants out. The proceed to your scratch/swirl removers.
I would try the SSR1 first with a polishing pad to see if that takes out your swirls. If that doesn't work jump up to the 2.5. Just remember always start with the least aggressive and work your way up.
Then finish with your sealant or wax or both. Here is a great link with a lot of useful info on the PC and how to use it. http://forums.roadfly.com/forums/detailing/forum.php?postid=1430487&page=1

Sorry for the long post. Just want to get you going in the right direction.

BTW-don't use the pad that came with the PC. It is junk and can actually cause more harm than good.

For the most part the car appears spotless till i get it in my garage where i have some pretty bright flouresent lights. Thats where i noticed some "waterspots." had a small post on it acually where we pretty much figure that its etching from hard water drying in the southern sun.

The cars surface is in great shape other wise. Its and 03 dark shadow grey. Its been washed, clayed, and Zaino'd regularly.

How careful do i need to be to keep the SSR1 and poorboys polish off the trim. Could I or should i maybe use some painters tape to mask off the trim?

I have some Lake Country pads and some poorboys products on order now just waiting for santa.. er... UPS to drop them off.

I would mask off the trim when you do the SSR1.

Taping off the trim is a time saver, as you don't have to try and remove any polish stained trim just peel the tape off.

None of Poorboy's products stain trim, at least I've never had a problem with it. Just keep the PC away from the trim so you don't melt it and you should be just fine.
