I picked up a spare steel VC at a Pull-n-Save, found a chrome plater in the midwest who estimated $100, sent it out there, and now they're saying $275-$350. Sooo, I said "screw dat, send it back". I must have been out of my mind in the first place to spend a C on that stupid VC. Oh well. Wonder what I can do with it? I can't imagine painting it red, that would be an insult to performance marques all over the world.
Any ideas?

In other news, my new 4.10 just arrived. Only gave $76 for it, plus S&H. It's in great shape. And...
Wait for it...
It has a Trac-Loc attached! Woohoo! I'm like this ->

Why not just get an aluminum one off eBay for cheap and either satin finish it with an abrasive wheel or full on polish it.
I went the satin finish route with a turbocoupe cover, looks decent...

That's a pretty good idea; it could also be color-anodized... blue anodized.... hhhmmmmm....

when i did the turbo swap i painted up my valve cover..

I just sandblasted the whole thing, painted it, DA'd the fins, then Clearcoated the whole thing.. i thought it turned out nicely
Here it is On the motor.

Its in the car now and you really dont see it as much, but it was a nice touch.

This is an early turbo valve cover, best looking one of them all IMO.

Those look good! Now I'm really stoked. Since I all ready have this steel VC, I'm going to work with it first. I'll get an aluminum cover if I can't get this steel one sorted out.
Time to hit the ol' paint aisle.

I spent $125 on mine. IMHO, it's money well spent since the v/c is the first thing you see when you pop the hood! The raised portions are polished and the rest is powdercoated in 2 colors with a clear coating that's about a foot thick!

In retrospect I probably should have clearcoated at least the top of mine....ah well.
