Low oil pressure

I started noticing that my oil pressure is low almost to the red line it will jump up to the half way mark when give it gas but if i am at idle or idle speed going down the road it goes back down I do not know where to start looking for a problem.STOCK GAUGE

I'd replace the oil pressure sender thats screwed into the block, its cheap and may fix your problem.

Have you recently changed your oil and put in a differant kind, or a differant weighted oil?

OK the gauge only reads low after i have been running the car for a while "like the oil is HOT and THIN"??????I hada truck once that had a cracked piston ring and when the oil got thin I would of course loose all pressure together and dead on the road so before I go replacing sensor's do you think possibly There is something else

i had the same thing happen and my engine was goin, do u blow any smoke??

My stock gauge use to do the same crap. Replaced it with an Autometer gauge and now it reads fine.

same here... replace to a mechanical gauge..

Mine did the same thing. Replace the oil pressure sender for $17 and all better. Stock gauge.

even with a new sender, the stock gauge still sucks. get another guage. good luck.

aftre i changed my intake manifold the gauge started acting weird... i got a new one and it works fine now... but you might wanna think about getting an aftremarket , don't trust the stock gauge...
