So I was getting a battery light and decided to change the alternator. I replaced with one from a junk yard (I know, I know) now when the engine is idling it’s showing 11.67 volts. I know that is crazy low. The battery while it’s off still seems to show a full charge though and I’m not getting the battery light. I’m planning on swapping with a new alternator but why am I not getting the light? I have hot rod cams; but that wouldn’t cause low voltage while idling would it?

What's the voltage when rpm is raised to 1000? Higher? You sure yer voltmeter is correct?
