Been spending the last couple nights putting down a glueless floor in an upstairs room of my house. I got about halfway through the install and my "tapping block" exploded ... this was from fairly light hammering to lock the floor all in. Went to Lowes to see about buying just another block and the Flooring Expert said "happens all the time, you're lucky if you can finish one room with them"...

This whole event reminded me of a "Stangnet Expert's" advice on space age plastic lowering blocks... it could not hold up to this so I don't think I'd want my butt and everything else riding on it.

Another thing I discovered is there are two types of "tapping blocks" on the market... one is for the glueless flooring which has notches in it to cradle the floorings tounge and groove, and then there are the more solid "tapping blocks" for flooring that requires glue. Either way I would not buy my performance suspension pieces in the flooring section of a home improvement store BUT if someone wants to go around giving free advice they should atleast note the differences clearly.

Carry on...
