LT Headers & O/R X-pipe worth @ least .38 sec & 2.05MPH

I say that because I finally had them all installed last Sunday. I ran a best of 13.94 @ 103.11 w/ .9066 reaction & 2.21 60ft the Friday prior to the install. After install, this past Friday I ran a best of 13.56 @ 105.16 w/ .948 reaction & 2.24 60ft. I say those mods are worth @ least that much gain because you'll notice that I reacted worse & my 60ft was worse after the mods. If I can get that straight I'd surely be in the low 13s. I'd also like to beef up the rear-end & run some sticky tires so I could get solidly into the 12s. What do yall think of the improvement?

Sounds good to me. I'm just about ready to add the Bassani mid-length headers and X-pipe with cats to mine (already have their after cat) so I'm looking for similar gains. Is your Mach an auto or 5-speed?

btw, your reaction time has nothing to do with your E.T. Good thinking on beefing up the rear -- lots of us have done that AFTER we had to be taken home on a flat-bed. I'm no good at slipping the clutch and with the stock gatorbacks was unable to get anything under a 2.1 second short time myself. With the DRs heated up, and dumping the clutch at 3500, I was able to cut numerous 1.9 second short times. I haven't been back to the track since I upgraded the rear as I haven't had the torque boxes welded up yet and didn't want that to be the next fix.

My Mach's a 5 spd. & damac, reaction time does have a bearing on your ETs. If you can cut a 1 second reaction time, for instance, down to a .7 second reaction time you'd theoretically hit the traps .3 seconds faster. That is, of course, considering all other variables remain the same. My best reaction time to date was a .58, but a 2.34 second 60 ft time killed that run & I only wound up w/ a 13.89 @ 102.83.

I thought LT's are worthless... 99% of that better times comes from the o/r x pipe man.. ask MustangLife or 2001GT was it?

R/T has no effect on ET, it WILL win races, but wont change ET at all, the clocks start when your front wheel break the beam, you could sit their for five minutes and still run 13.5(provided you didn't move an inch)

I got it. I know man. A lot of people dawg LTs but I'll say they've drastically improved the sound of my car. & not that I particularly care about this part but about 75% of people I drive by (be they walking or driving) look or stare @ the car. Also who could argue w/ definite ET improvements?

Yea I ran almost .3 faster than my friend who has only o/r X and bassani cat-back

I had 4.10 and LT + catted X and I have to shift to 4th gear. Also broke into 13's

I haven't got to enjoy mine yet. We installed cams and headers and dropped it off at a local tuner to get a new tune. I can't wait to get it back Tuesday and see if I get results like yours.

I appreciate the feedback. I think a couple of people have helped me have a better understanding as to the lack of effect reaction time has. 60ft's all that really matters.

Open headers are obnoxiously loud.

It would be best to run both LT's and x-pipe and add some mufflers.

yeah traction is key. Banging the gears is also a big key.

Headers are a lot louder than a midpipe, especially if you install Long Tubes or Optimum Lenghts. A cat-back will also add some sound. But overall, if you want 1 exhaust mod to give the most sound, it'd be the Headers.

I disagree. Mufflers will affect the sound more than headers do. A car with stock headers and aftermarket Magnapacks or SLP Loudmouth will be louder than a car with headers and stock mufflers.

You're right about that. That's not what I meant. I just mean that headers will give you a really deep, powerful sound. Catbacks are just loud. Now doing both'll get you a really deep, powerfully loud sound.
