Unless you're planning on running Shorty Headers, you're gonna have to upgrade your Midpipe too.

You're right about that. That's not what I meant. I just mean that headers will give you a really deep, powerful sound. Catbacks are just loud. Now doing both'll get you a really deep, powerfully loud sound.

Yeah but don't forget that L/T headers actually quieten the exhaust note just a tad. If it's the loudest exhaust you want possible...run open headers. If you want the next loudest, just throw an offroad h/x pipe with a reasonably open muffler and it will get you there. Shorties will also be as loud as the stockers. The thing with L/T's is that once there on there, almost all of your popping and mean-ass snarling on deceleration will be gone. Not all of it but at least some or most of it. As well as decrease the noise just a tad. Yeah, but you'll be making more power though.

This, I say in evidence of my old firebird and a friend of mine's 99GT. I also heard the same comments posted on this board if you scroll down some...maybe you'll find that helpful too.

Honestly, I had no pop whatsoever w/ just the Flowmaster 40-series 2 chambers on there. But now that the Headers & X-pipe're on there, I do get some occasional pop on deceleration. It's all contingent on the spark plug's firing.
