I have a 2000 GT. Love the car, and no offense to ford, but the Mach 460 is annoying me.

It's got the Radio/Tape up top, then the CD player dropped below. I have a radio deck with cd player and all which I really want to use, but wait... not working because Ford decided to make the 460 the exact opposite of anything even close to standard.

I am hearing and read tons of posts about how the mach 460 cant be used with a new deck because the entire system has to be rewired.

I would love to actually redo everything however, I have no experiance with audio electronics in cars. I do have tons of experiance with wiring and computer electronics. It isn't helping that much.

So, what I need to know in a nutshell is... is there a cost efficent way to rewire the whole thing and replace everything (I imagine all the speaks need to be replaced too, etc?) for a decent price, nothing fancy now, I just want something that can match the 460's sound but WILL be upgradeable, aka no factory installed. What will I need exactly? I don't have tons of money to shell out.

OR....

Is there a way I can get my deck installed? (It fits, I got the spacer thingy and all) to work with the cars speakers and amps and all that mess without loosing quality?

Thanks,
Louis

From what I gather from your post, you have pretty much had it with the 460. Messing around with it even more will more than likely irk you off even more. Best bet would be to scrap the 460 and install a new system. You already have the head unit. Invest in some new speakers and a 4 channel amp, wires and amp kit. Then kill a day by removing the mach speakers and amps. Then run your wires to the doors and rear speakers. Run your amp kit to the rear for your amp. Once you have that power wire and rca's run back there, you can add a sub later. Its not very hard to setup, just requires patience. If you purchase your equipment from Crutchfield, they will send you manuals on how to set everything up. Good Luck. I am guessing speakers, amp and wires would prolly run your minimum, $450 for some decent equipment.
