Most of those connectors are power turn ons to the two seperate tape and radio/cd player not the amps.

I have ran aftermarket headunits since 1997 using the factory amps and speakers. Very simple and my amps and speakers are still working perfect!

You DON't need any special wiring harness from crutchfield bypassing all the amps and such.

Tips:
1.get a headunit with front and rear RCA outs (sub out also if going with sub)with High Voltage outs (4 or 5 volt)

2. Get a ford premium wiring harness they sell this at WalMart or most any car install shop(around $10-15). The only modification you need to do is to solder some Male RCA connecters to the premium wiring harness connector part(make sure, you keep the polarities correct + -) This is the part that plugs into your factory amp harness. Then plug the rca's into your headunit's fron and rear preouts. That's the hardest part of the install

3. The rest is all your normal connections, power, ACC, Ground, Turn on(which you will also connect your subwoofer amp turn on wire to) and dimmer if your head unit is equipped with it.

I don't get any popping, sounds great especially with a sub. Let me know if you have any questions. When I have some time, I'll try to post some pics.

A simple harness mod is all that stands in the way from the generic ford unit to almost any aftermarket unit.

Ok thanks, I'm pretty sure I used the same Scosche wiring kit that you have. (the one from walmart that says it will fit our cars). have you hooked it up, not worring about the other wires? Is it working? On my car I just connected the wiring harnesses together and added the resistors, that was it. I believe the other connectors are for the turn on of the tape deck, and are not used. Let me know how the progress is.
